NetPilot Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This page explains in detail what data the NetPilot app handles, how we use it, who it may be shared with, and what rights you have over it.
Last updated: 2026/09/08 — Version 1.1
Introduction
This policy applies to the NetPilot app ("the App"), developed by FlippedCode ("we", "the developer"). This document explains the types of data the app may handle during use, the basis for processing it, who it may be shared with, and your rights regarding it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Data we collect
Because NetPilot doesn't require an account, most of the data the app handles is used locally on your device to display network information. That said, the data that may be collected falls into the following categories:
- Network and device data: information such as your Wi-Fi network name, signal strength, local IP address, encryption type, and connection status — used only to power the app's tools.
- General technical data: device type, OS version, app version, and potential crash reports, used to improve performance and fix issues.
- Advertising ID: if ads are shown through Google AdMob, this service may use your device's advertising ID — see the "Ads" section below.
- Permission-related data: limited data read only once you've granted the associated permission, and used exclusively to power the related feature — detailed in the next section.
We do not collect payment data, do not request any sensitive personal identifiers, and do not sell your data to any third party for marketing purposes.
Permissions the app requests, and why
Below is every permission NetPilot requests from Android, and exactly why it's used:
INTERNETTo connect to the internet and perform core operations such as speed testing and fetching network information.
POST_NOTIFICATIONSTo send notifications about network status or the results of automation tasks the app performs.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATETo determine whether the device is connected to the internet and which connection type is in use (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
ACCESS_WIFI_STATETo display current Wi-Fi network information such as name, signal strength, and technical connection details.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION · ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATIONAndroid requires location permission for any app that wants to display the Wi-Fi network name or measure its signal strength, even if it doesn't use your actual location for anything else. NetPilot uses this permission exclusively for that purpose, and does not log, track, store, or share your location with anyone.
CHANGE_WIFI_STATETo let you turn Wi-Fi on or off, or modify some of its settings directly from within the app.
READ_PHONE_STATE · READ_PRECISE_PHONE_STATETo display general information about cellular connection status, used only within the network information screen.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATSTo display data usage across different apps as part of the internet usage tracking feature. This permission requires your explicit manual approval from system settings, and is never enabled automatically.
READ_PHONE_NUMBERSTo display the phone number associated with your SIM, when available from the device, within the network information screen only.
READ_CONTACTSUsed only if you personally enable automation features linked to apps like WhatsApp. It is not required for normal use of the app, and this data is never accessed without you explicitly enabling that feature.
The app only checks whether WhatsApp is installed on your device to support optional automation features, with no access whatsoever to chat content or messages.
How we use data
- Running core app features such as displaying network information, measuring speed, and managing router settings.
- Improving app performance and detecting and fixing issues.
- Displaying notifications related to network status or automation results, if you've enabled notifications.
- Displaying ads via Google AdMob to help support the app being offered for free.
We do not use your data to make automated decisions that legally affect you, and we do not build marketing profiles using personal identifiers.
Sharing data with third parties
We do not sell your personal data to anyone. Limited data (such as the advertising ID or general technical data) may be shared with the following service providers to power core app functionality:
| Service | Purpose | Data type |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Displaying ads within the app | Advertising ID, general device technical data |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Sending notifications | Notification device identifier |
| Google Play Services | Core system services for the app | General device technical data |
These services are subject to the privacy policies of their respective providers (Google), and we recommend reviewing them for full details on their practices.
Ads & advertising ID
NetPilot may display ads through Google AdMob to help keep the app available for free with no subscriptions. This service relies on your device's advertising ID to show relevant ads, and we never link this identifier to your name or email address. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization directly from your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Data retention & security
We retain limited technical data (such as crash reports) only for as long as needed to improve app performance, after which it is deleted or aggregated in a way that can no longer identify you. We take reasonable measures to protect the data the app handles from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, while acknowledging that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children's privacy
NetPilot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children in this age group. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under this age without parental knowledge or consent, we will delete that data as soon as we become aware of it. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with data, please contact us immediately via the email listed at the bottom of this page.
Your rights & choices
- Managing permissions: you can review or revoke any permission you've granted the app at any time from your phone's system settings.
- Ad personalization: you can opt out of ad personalization or reset your advertising ID from your device settings.
- Data deletion: since the app does not store an account or profile for you on our servers, you can delete any local data simply by deleting the app from your device. For any question about other technical data, feel free to contact us.
- Questions & contact: you can reach out to us at any time with any question about this policy or our privacy practices.
International data transfers
Some technical data (such as data associated with Google services) may be processed on servers located outside your country. In such cases, these services rely on contractual and technical safeguards approved by their providers to protect data during transfer and processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect app developments or new legal requirements. Any update will be posted on this page with the "last updated" date above revised accordingly, and we recommend reviewing it periodically.
